Digital Information

For the past couple of days, we've been discussing digital information, copyright, copyright infringement, fair use, and Creative Commons.  In your own words, please answer the following questions:
  1. Why should we use more than one label or tag to describe the same piece of information?
  2. Why is Creative Commons licensing an important development for sharing digital information?
  3. Would you allow others to use your photos?
  4. What licenses would you apply and why?

  2. We should use more than one type of lable to describe the same picture because it makes things easier for other people when they are searcing for a picture.
People don't have to but you to use your things and you can decide tyheir limitations.
I would, but it mostly depends on the photo. I know for a fact that I would credit for the picture.
Like I said, it depends on the picture, but I know I would want credit.

  3. When tagging things you should use more than one tag to describe your piece of information so that it is more easy to find for others users searching for it. Creative Commons licensing is an important development because it allows people to customize their copyright so that other people can use it. I wouldn't allow other people to use my personal photos but general photos I would allow people to use. I would apply an attribution license so that I could still get credit for my photo but they could also use it freely.

  4. We should use more than one tag but only if need and that is because it may classify under more than one tag. Creative commons is important because they are your own pictures and people shouldn't have rights to them unless you give permission. I would allow people to use certain picture but it really depends on the picture. If I was going to share then I would put some rights and if I wasn’t going to share them I would put all rights reserved.

  6. We should use more than one tag to label something because then it makes it easier to find and less work. Creative Commons is using a copyright for digital information so people dont try and steel yor own work. i would not allow other people to use the photos i take with peopel in them. i would appy the all rights reserved.

  8. You should use one or more tags to narrow a search or make it easier and more avaible to find for someone or even yourself. Creative Commons licensing is an improtant development becasue it makes people aware of copyrights easier and can protect your work from plagerising.Yes, I would allow others to use my photos with my permission.I would use non-direvatives and non-commercial.

  9. We should use more than one label or tag to describe the same piece of information because the more tags you have, the more your piece will show up when people search it. Tags help you find something that you want to see but aren't extremely specific about. Creative Commons is an important development because it gives you more options of sharing. If someone wants to get their work better known, they can allow other people to share it to more people. I would definitely allow someone to use my photos using one of the Creative Commons attribution licenses so everyone knows that it’s mine. I would probably apply the Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike License. I wouldn’t apply the NoDerivs license because I think it’d be fun to see someone modify my work to maybe make it better. However, I will apply the other ones because I feel it protects my intellectual property.

  11. We should use more than one tag to describe the same piece of information because it makes it easier for you and others to find. Creative Commons is important because it makes it so much easier to share ideas and information without having to ask permission. You would allow others to use your photos so they can get creative ideas from them and use give them oppurtunity to use your work. I would apply all rights reserved because I would not want my personal photos in a stranger's hand.

Friends and family, because you don’t want other people creeping on you

  13. People should use more than one tag because people use different words to find things. Creative commons helps to make finding things easier. I would allow others to use my photos and I'd just have the Attribution License.

    2. Its important because it allows you to publish your pictures and that other people can use your picture if they dont have one to use.

  17. 1. Having more than one tag makes it easier to find a spacific section of pictures.
    2. Creative Commons licensing is an important development for sharing digital information because it protects peoples right to publishing their pictures and keeping their rights.
    3. No I would not allow others to use my photos because they are my creations and if they want them, they should make their own.
    4. I would apply all rights, because I would like to keep my things mine, but allow others to view them.

  18. It is important to use more than one tag because your picture could be interpreted in different ways and most likely deals with more than one major topic. So, adding on more than one tag will increase someone finding your picture when they search a particular word. Creative Commons is an important because it allows people to share their work and have other people legally use that work. I would definitely let other people use my photos and other works. But I would put an Attribution-Non-Commercial-ShareAlike License so people couldn’t profit off my work and could change it but they would also have to share it with everyone. It would also give me credit to the original work.

  19. 1. It is important to tag more than one thing in a photo because it may describe one or more things. Also, when somebody goes to search for it, it will be earier to find.
    2. Creative Commons is important so you can share your photos.
    3. Yes, I would allow others to use my photos.
    4. I would apply the Share Alike liscense so I would at least get credit.

  20. We should use one or more tag to describe a piece of information because when someone is searching, or you are trying to find the piece of information, it will be easier to find because more things will be related to it.
    2. Creative Commons is important for sharing digital information because it allows others to use your work, so it will be out there and avaliable for other users, but you still get the credit for it.
    3. Yes, I would allow others to use my photos.
    4. I would just apply the attrubution license so that people using the photo would know whose it is and could see my profile if they wanted.

  21. We should use more than on label or tag to describe the same piece of information because it would be easier to find the information because it is under more than one tag. Creative Commons licensing is an important development for sharing digital information because if you didn’t have the creative commons licensing people could use your work and not give you credit. This is taking advantage of you because you did all the work and all they did was copy it. I wouldn’t allow others to use my photos because they could edit your photos and put them back online. Also if you don’t have a copyright license they could take your photos and call them their own. The licenses I would use for this is the Attribution license because if I ever did let people use my photos in the future they could change them and not get in trouble.

  22. We should use more than one label or tag to describe the same piece of information because it organizes our work and gives us the little details of the assignment. Creative Commons is an important development because it gives you more options. If someone wants to get their work better known, they can allow other people to share it to more people. I would allow someone to use my photos because using Creative Commons they would know that I took the picture. I would apply the Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike license. I would use these because I feel it protects my property.
